Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

A few weeks ago I was looking around my house and realized I have absolutely no Valentine's decorations. It's something that never really bothered me before, but since having kids, especially a daughter who is obsessed with crafts and decorating, I feel the need to add some hearts to my current decor. It's a great reason to felt, or more realistically it's a great reason to go online and order from my favorite wool store. Weeeeeee.

So when I wasn't helping my kids fill out their valentine's cards for their classmates, a grand total of 50 mind you and I had to do all of them for my 4 year old who conveniently can't write his name yet, thus getting out of this years autograph marathon, I made these little festive hearts.

It Begins

So here we go.

I haven't been a blogger for quite a while, in fact I think the last time I wrote anything it was about 2 years ago and it was about my kids. It was merely an attempt to rekindle my baby blog which I hadn't posted anything on in ages anyway. As it turns out, having kids makes you pretty busy and doesn't leave much time for anything else, let alone blogging about them. But now my two sweet cherubs are 4 and 6 and life is a teeny weeny bit calmer.

I've just begun a new creative adventure which is what this blog is going to be about. I've started needle felting wool. It is very satisfying and is an activity I can squeak into my schedule between the endless snack duty, cleaning and chauffeuring. I did cakes for a while and although I loved it, it was too hard and too expensive to do at this point in my life. I couldn't start the cakes until the kids went to bed which means I would be working from till 3 a.m. I am so not a night person, the result was pretty astonishing, I'd turn into a cross between a Dalek and a Weeping Angel (Doctor Who reference in case anyone was wondering). Plus the endless hand washing and back breaking labor was leaving me chaffed and exhausted. And lets be honest, I sure don't need the extra calories although it was a fun perk.

And then felting came into my world and I haven't looked back since. I discovered it at a gallery (Qpop) in Jtown in LA. I loved the look and thought what the heck let's give it a try and the rest is history, or soon shall be.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces so far.

There you have it. Let's see where this crazy journey takes us.
